◙  6 day from Fes to Sahara desert

    day 1: explore Fes

Welcome to Fez, Morocco’s ancient royal city, where history whispers through every street. Starting your journey, you’ll venture into Fes el Bali and Fes el Jadid, exploring labyrinthine alleys that take you back in time. Wander past the bustling Chouara tannery, where centuries-old leather-making traditions unfold before your eyes. Step into Al-Qarawiyyin University, a living testament to knowledge since 859 AD, and visit the serene Al-Attarin Madrasah with its stunning mosaics. Discover the Jewish quarter, the Mellah, and, if time permits, catch a breathtaking sunset at the Merinid Tomb. A city frozen in time, waiting to be explored.

    Day 2: Fes – Merzouga

The next day, begin on an early drive south towards Merzouga, climbing the Col du Zad at 7,146 feet, winding through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. Pause to admire the playful Amazigh macaques and the serene Moulouya River before enjoying lunch in Midelt, known as the “Apple City.” Continue through the Tizi n’Talremt pass into the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees and ancient kasbahs guarding treasures of gold, salt, and spices. Reach Erfoud, famed for its date festival and fossils, before arriving at Erg Chebbi, where vast dunes stretch across the horizon. Ride camels across the ever-shifting sands, chasing the sunset, then relax by the fire at your desert camp.

    Day 3 : Merzouga – Todgha Gorge

Wake up early to enjoy the desert sunrise. You can try sandboarding or take a tour to the Erg Chebbi dunes or go on an ATV adventure. Visit Khemliya, a village in the desert, and watch traditional drumming and dancing. Afterward, take a walk through the village. Next, head to Rissani, a market town known for its livestock auctions and the famous “donkey park.” Travel to Tinghir, a desert town with amazing views of nearby villages along a palm-lined river. The last stop is Todra Gorge, a stunning 305-meter-high canyon. Take a peaceful walk through the gorge and relax by the river.

day 4 Todgha Gorge – Ouarzazat

Drive through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs to reach the famous Ait Benhaddou, a historic kasbah in Morocco. Pass through Dades Valley and Boumalne Dades, stopping at Kelaa M’gouna to admire rose bushes and learn how rose water and oil are made. In Ouarzazate, explore the film studios and museum, where films like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator were shot. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient trading post dating back to the 11th century. Wander through its quiet alleys and climb the Granary Tower for stunning views. Game of Thrones fans can visit the river to see the iconic gate from the series. End the day with a peaceful dinner overlooking the valley.

    day 5: Ouarzazat – Marrakech

Leave Aït Benhaddou and begin your ascent into the High Atlas Mountains, with stunning views of Toubkal, the highest peak at 4,167 meters. Stop in Taddert to visit an argan oil cooperative and learn about the oil-making process, complete with a tasting. As you descend, the landscape and climate shift dramatically, leading you to the bustling city of Marrakech. After a long day, check into your hotel and relax. In the early evening, head to Jemaa el-Fna, Africa’s largest market, filled with musicians, performers, and food stalls. You can enjoy the lively atmosphere from one of the many cafés around the square.

day 6: exploring Red city (Marrakech)

Marrakech was once a key trading city for the Berber tribes and a hub for trade routes through Ouarzazate and the sub-Saharan region. Start your tour in the medina with a local guide, exploring lively markets full of spices, jewelry, caftans, and more. Visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa to see the beautiful craftsmanship, then head to the Marrakech Museum to explore both modern and traditional Moroccan art. Discover the Kasbah, the Saadian burial site, Bahia Palace, and El Badi Palace. If you have time, relax in the peaceful Majorelle Gardens.
